Conway is a worldclass organizer of economic development events. Our event division has organized specialized economic development events for more than five decades, bringing together foreign investors and the Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) and Economic Development Organizations (EDOs) that serve them.
Each Conway event has its own specific purpose, but common to all is the objective of facilitating economic development and FDI through knowledge gained from first-class, corporate-led programs, networking and peer-to-peer shared best practices. These events result in experiences and connections that cannot be matched elsewhere. In total, Conway has organized events in more than 100 cities internationally, connecting businesses, governments, and people from around the world.
Given the current status of Corona Virus and international travel restrictions, many of Conway's 2020 events have been modified for digital, or postponed until 2021.

Virtual FDI Offerings
The Global Free Zones Summit is focused on strategic investment in global free zones, free trade zones and special economic zones. In other FDI events, this topic would occupy one discussion panel in a diverse, content-packed agenda. However, through corporate investor and sponsor feedback, we believe free zones are ready for more focus. This will give better positioning for investment promotion agencies and economic development organizations who represent cities, ports, specialized industrial parks, free zones or special economic zones, not to mention corporate service providers, as the content and the corporate investors who attend are focused on these zones.
St. Petersburg Area Economic Development Corporation hired Conway to produce two thought leadership style webinars with the theme “Adapting to Change”. They asked leaders from companies located in St. Pete to join the panels with the goal of educating potential investors in lieu of the standard location pitch. Experts from Raymond James & Associates, Dynasty Financial Partners, Spirion and VisionFirst Advisors discussed changes in community alignment, financial services and cybersecurity due to Covid-19 and the importance of location when adapting to change. Conway received consistent positive feedback from attendees, noting how the thought leadership style approach was particularly useful in determining how and where to invest and how the interactive discussion provided real world strategies for adapting to change in times of crisis. Conway’s Executive VP, Ron Starner, published two blogs in Conway’s Site Selection Magazine following the webinars to further promote the region. The President and CEO of St. Petersburg Area EDC said “Thank you to the Conway team and panelists for discussing the same things that we talk about when selling St. Pete! The EDC will continue build on the success of these webinars and work to enhance the character of this community and help grow our economic prosperity.”
